This Is How You Should Be Using Coconut Oil

You’ve probably heard by now that coconut
oil is a magical elixir. It seems like every wellness blogger and Instagram-celeb
sings its praises, which may lead people to wonder: “Is coconut oil really all it’s hyped
up to be?” The answer is… “YES!” Used in medicine and ancient remedies in Asia
and the Pacific Islands for centuries because of their healing properties, coconut oil is
a wondrous substance that has a place in your kitchen, medicine cabinet, and beauty bag. We’re going to share a few amazing — and
some unexpected — ways to use one of nature’s finest moisturizers. Your lotion potion Go ahead, slather yourself in coconut oil
after you shower or before you hop in bed. Yes, coconut oil feels a little greasy when
you first apply it. But once you rub it in, your skin will literally
drink it up. According to Organic Facts, this is largely
thanks in part to its saturated fat content. These medium chain fatty acids help keep moisture
in the skin as the fats reduce moisture-loss through the pores. But while some people swear by using coconut
oil as a facial moisturizer, those with acne-prone skin can sometimes break out due to clogged
pores. We love it as a body moisturizer, but proceed
with caution if you leave it on your face. Go deep! The point of washing your hair is to remove
oils, right? Wrong! Your hair needs its natural oils to stay healthy. And your hair can certainly benefit from a
coconut oil hug every now and then. Remember those medium chain fatty acids? According to Mind Body Green, they also make
it much easier for the moisturizing coconut oil to penetrate easily into the hair shaft. That means it’s working from the inside,
out. Very nice. Here’s what you do. Heat up a bowl of coconut oil, rub it in your
hair, and put on a shower cap for an hour; better yet, sleep in it for even deeper
penetration. Rinse with warm water and shampoo thoroughly. You will have silky, shiny, frizz-free hair. You can also regularly apply a little bit
of coconut oil on your ends to prevent breakage. An oil cleaner? Wash with oil to remove oil. Sounds counterintuitive, right? But there’s an old saying in chemistry that
applies here too: “like dissolves like.” The best way to dissolve your face’s natural
oils is with other natural oils. The process is twofold: you clean the pores
of dirt and bacteria, while also replacing the dirty oil with the good oils that protect
and nourish your skin. It’s no wonder we’ve heard so much about
oil-cleansing lately. All you have to do for a clean, but moisturized
face is rub on some coconut oil and follow-up with a hot washcloth. Let the cloth cool, then gently remove any
remaining oil on the skin with it. Bonus: It’s a cleanser and makeup remover
in one, so no need for that extra step. Armpit savior Coconut oil for your armpits? Yup. It’s a thing. According to The Coconut Mama, Coconut oil
has natural, antibacterial properties, which can prevent things like body odor. She has a recipe to create a natural deodorant
and antiperspirant by mixing four tablespoons of coconut oil, a quarter cup of arrowroot
powder, a quarter cup of baking soda, and an essential oil of your choice. Melt the concoction and pour it into an empty
deodorant container, and voila! A stink-free armpit. The balm-diggity Tried, tested, and true: coconut oil is an
essential ingredient to effective, natural lip balm. Katie over at The Wellness Mama swears by
it. Not only does it moisturize, but it also soothes
chapped, flaky pouts. Make your own using a combination of coconut
oil, beeswax, Vitamin E, honey, and essential oil, or simply mix it with a bit of lipstick,
and you’ve got yourself a new favorite lip product. Silky smooth legs How many times have you run out of shaving
cream, only to use skin-drying soap as its replacement? Fear not. Coconut oil to the rescue! All over the blogosphere, coconut oil lovers
are sharing their experience of using the good stuff to shave their legs. The verdict? A closer shave along with soft, moisturized
legs long after you step onto your bath mat. Plus, a relatively unharmed razor blade. Just be careful because it can make your shower
a bit slippery. Don’t feel the burn An article on Livestrong.com explains the
dangers of overdosing on antibiotics, while also touting the benefits of natural solutions. Rich in luric acid, coconut oil has anti-bacterial,
anti-viral, antifungal, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Whew! That’s a lot of anti’s. All of this to say that it’s a great solution
to ouchies — particularly those that come from spending too much time in the sun or
touching a too-hot pan. According to Home Remedies For Life, coconut
oil can do everything from relieve sunburned inflammation to reduce peeling discomfort. On top of that, it soothes and tightens the
burned skin to prevent any permanent damage such as wrinkles, tanning, and darkening of
the skin. Try oil-pulling Oil-pulling is an ancient medicinal technique
for removing toxins and improving oral health. As the Wellness Mama explains, though, there
is a lack of scientific studies to support the practice when it comes to your teeth. But there is plenty of anecdotal evidence
out there. She claims that it has helped her reduce plaque,
fight sensitivity, and have pearlier whites. The steps are pretty simple. Put coconut oil in your mouth, swish for twenty
minutes, and spit out. The hardest part is having the patience to
sit with a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth. The Wellness Mama suggests starting small. Say a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon, and
five minutes versus twenty minutes. Then, work your way up. Wow. This stuff really is the gift that keeps on
giving. Thanks for watching! Click The List icon to subscribe to our YouTube

So be specific.

  • Here in the philippines, you cant sleep with wet hair because the elders said you will go blind. ๐Ÿ˜…

  • I have tried it and it makes my skin glow but i saw an article the other days saying that coconut oil closes the pores and doesn't allow the skin to breath.

  • My grandma gave me a bottle of coconut oil after she came back from vacation, she told me to try it so I'm going to try it see what happens ๐Ÿค

  • I think that for years women have been conned by all the beauty make-up companies giving out false promises that they can make you look yonger and healthier.

So YES, Coconut Oil is the real deal. I've massaged it onto my face since I was 19 yrs old… I wipe it off after 10 minutes with a warm flannel.
I'm over 50 now but most people seem to think I'm 35. It's just downright embarrasing at times.
I wouldn't dare ever go to a School reunion. It would frankly freak them out.

Apparently the molecules in the oil are small enough to penetrate the pores of the skin (unlike water molecules) which then goes right into your blood stream. And with it's anti-bacterial qualitties, a spot that appears on your face one day will be gone the next day.
I don't know how people haven't caught on yet.
Yes some people might be allergic to Coconut product. Even when I used to shop for my Aunt, she always had me checking food products that contained Coconut.

I'd say that due to using Coconut Oil it's caused some tricky social awkward moments. But that's only the downside.
Of course, as with me not drinking and smoking has also helped, as most people that do smoke and drink generally have red blotchy faces.
So yes, if you're young and starting out in life, then don't be conned by the big beauty firms.
COCONUT OIL IS THE REAL DEAL.
I'm planning to start using a daily spoonful of Virgin Olive Oil as I've been hearing some amazing stories. One particular story on how his Father's lost memory returned. And when he tried it out himself, he said it gave him unheard of amounts of energy.
It's no wonder the big Companies are slandering the Coconut Oil culture, because they might soon lose out to something 4 times cheaper…and more natural.

My first experience of Coconut Oil was when living in a Childrens Home and each weekend an African Mother would come visit each Sunday to visit her 5 year old cute little girl. We all loved her so much.
Her Mother would massage Coconut Oil into her face and after wiping it off with a warm towel after 15 minutes, the little girl looked absolutely radiant.
I knew I had to look into it.

So can a woman over 50 suddenly start using the oil in the hope of looking young after a lifetime of being duped?
I'm not sure. But it might be worth a try.

  • Coconut oil is actually so bad for ur hair. PLEASE DONT USE IT. It breaks ur hair over time and it leads to blading at an earlier age

  • My dad accidentally threw out my coconut oil ๐Ÿ™

  • Where I am the coconut oil is different, it's made into the oil and nothing else is added to it so it's just an oil with no added chemicals. So anyone can use it.

  • you forget to say at the end, that you should NEVER spit into your sink :O , spit into tissue and in the bin….
And the oil isn't antibacterial anymore when it is extracted from the nut, so don't use it as antiseptic, use real medical stuff. Alcohol or iodine or medical grade nano silver solutions…

  • If I was a superhero I would be called coconut oil man

  • Well I wash my face and hands and then put it on my face and go to sleep with doesn't help with my acne but somehow helps with my eyebrows? Help I really wanna get rid of acne before school.

  • funny how in my country philippines, we dont want to smell like coconut in our hair. we used to joke around, that's what poor people used- now it is the best thing in western countries.. we used to bring a whole cracked coconut in the well , chew the coconut , spit the juice and put it on our hair… hahaha. old times.. 1970's

  • I use coconut oil for everything! My hair, my skin, shaving cream, makeup remover, i even let my feet soak in it for an hour or two to soften the dry skin so you can get rid of it, I suffer with extremly bad eczema which i used to have to take steroids for which stunk like warm garbage, after awhile my eczema still didnt clear up so i started using coconut oil all over my body every morning and before i go to bed and let it sink in. my skin is 100% clear now, no eczema at all. Coconut oil is literally a gift from god

  • I swear by coconut oil โค my holy grail ๐Ÿ’•

  • It's good for heat rashes too.

  • Coconut oil does not work well for shaving I would recommend using conditioner if you run out of shaving cream and if you donโ€™t have any then it would be better to just use body wash. I donโ€™t know if I did something wrong but it didnโ€™t do like anything for me. If you want to you can still try it Iโ€™m just trying to put my opinion out there.

  • I use coconut oil on my hair and skin and on my eyelashes

  • I found coconut shampoo and conditioner at Walmart. This stuff is amazing!
I use it as body wash too and my acne cleared up completely. Iโ€™ve had bad acne on my back and face since puberty. Iโ€™m 35 now. No more acne is a major self esteem booster!
This stuff is great for hair and now deodorant is optional because I never stink.
Kinda weird for a straight, long haired guy to smell like coconut all the time though. Lol

  • My kid's been to the doctor 4 times for this rash that's covering his whole right side. When we ran out of the many ointments they prescribed, I started using coconut oil on him. It's FINALLY starting to go away! Idk if it's because of the extra ingredients in the medicine, or his own immune system is stepping up. All I know is, my baby's feeling better, the coconut oil soothes him, and now has a permanent place in our bathroom!!

  • Beware leaving coconut oil on your head for hours and hours. It can cause hair loss for some like me. I do 20 to 30 mins max and it's great!

  • One thing to bare in mind is how everybody's skin or hair will react different to the oil. Personally, I find it seems to work really well as a face moisturiser but if I try using it on my hair then it feels tacky and doesn't wash out very well and then when it finally does wash out my hair actually feels dry. Have to experiment to find what suits your own body.

  • Awesome! very informative. I will have to check out some products.

  • Bullshit .I am frm sri lanka ..we are using coconut oil when I born ..
Its not that mush miracle …

  • Might give it a try.I am Mediterranean and we use olive oil in many of the ways Asians etc would use coco nut oil.It, too is a good oil. But knowing about others is always useful. I hear She's butter is good, too.And that oil of Jojoba has a very similar or compatible structure to natural human sebum. Great for skin and hair, I hear. Never tried it, though. I notice some oils will change the shade of very blonde hair, like mine, so care is needed in choosing a suitable oil. I would only apply it to the mid and ends of long hair, as my roots are oily. I simply braid the hair and apply it to the braid and leave it on. It does not look greasy and unsightly that way, even wearing it to work etc but it conditions the hair very well, naturally.

  • Donโ€™t heat coconut oil in the microwave
