  • Great vid ! Your mom is amazing . She reminds me so much of mine .

Your dreads are looking great . They are getting so long .

  • Such cool video!πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ’•

  • Thanks mom for helping out with the vid. I'm trying to get my skin care game up but I have such a hard time finding people of color who put out informative content in this platform (let alone a male of color), this is so helpful.

  • I love how little by little you introduce different members of your family. I also love your family's willingness to participate.

I have combination skin but do not have an actual skincare regime. I haven't dealt with acne or skin issues since adolescents. So I basically just wash and go (on top of consuming a plant-based diet and drinking plenty of water). Nonetheless, this video held my interest. Great work!

P.s. Your dreads are growing out so nicely!

  • This way nice.. hey mama hallease thanks for sharing

  • Thanks, Mom! You're beautiful!

  • I definitely relate with the adult acne bit. I've never had issues with acne but when I turned 27 this may, my skin was on 10. Lately I've been using black soap in the am and pm with ponds cream to moisturize and my skin's seen a major improvement.

  • Thank you mama Hallease πŸ€—

  • I think I have normal skin. I never had any breakouts when I had hit my teenage years and now that I'm going to go into my early twenties, I still haven't broke out. I don't really do much to my skin care routine. All I use now is an exfoliate cleanser by St. Ive's, witch hazel rose water toner, and I drink a lot of water as well. That's pretty much all I do for my skin care routine. P.s. you and your mother are so beautiful. You're skin is also glowing.

  • Loved this video. I had oily skin most of my life; had dermatology treatments, alternative treatments. I agree that understanding the stages of life is incremental in acne control. I had more pimples near the chin which in ancient medicine is the area that pertains to the ovaries.

That said, the biggest change for me was watching my own physical behavior before and after cleansing regimens. I had heard that putting the hand in the face causes more pimples.(because of the bacteria under the nails and on the hand)

I noticed that unconsciously I was touching my skin with my fingers or fingertips and even hands( when I rest my face on my palms, for example) and that caused more pimples to those areas of the face. I also noticed that where my hair touched my face, pimples were more apparent because of the oils I used in scalp massage and lubricating the ends. I switched to essential oils and water for moisture.

Fast forward, 20 years, I never touch my face( unless I'm cleansing it) and keep a journal of which oils tend to promote the irritation. My face is clear now. I've tested the theory now and then: touch an area and sure enough a pimple starts to form the next day.

Thank you for letting me share this here. It may be of help to a viewer.

P.S: Loved seeing you and your mom sharing strategies.

  • thanks mom!!!

  • Shout out to your mama for being in the video (you look and sound exactly like her, ha!)!

This video came at the right time because I JUST purchased a bunch of items from a website called "The Ordinary" (it's under a larger company called Deciem) for myself and my mother.

My mother is in her late 40s but she already hit menopause in her early 40s and she has always dealt with mild acne for years. She uses black soap and a simple moisturizer for her face. My acne was worse as a teen, but I mostly dealt with hyperpigmentation, large pores, and blackheads throughout my life. I try to stick with simple products, and always strayed away from ones that ones that had too many ingredients. I usually breakout a little during my cycle or towards the end. This month though, I broke out more than I usual, and it made me conscious of how poor my skincare routine is.

Now that I've purchased all of these skincare products, I'm trying to find a nice balance between homemade skin products and ones that are already made. I'm hoping that I can stick to this routine and try to document my progress through photos. Fortunately for my mom, she has been seeing progress from the toner I bought her (she's even received compliments from her coworkers). πŸ™‚

  • Your mother is incredibly beautiful!! πŸ’–

  • This is a gorgeous video. You have a great voice, it's super soothing!

  • As a 44 year old who loves the artistry and content of your videos, It was so wonderful and generous how your mom shared her beauty regimen and secrets. Thank her for me. As I am getting older, I was wondering why my skin was acting disrespectful, lol. After my surgery, I am going to have my hormones checked and supplement topically or in my hormones what I need to start doing.

  • Love your mom's spirit!!!! 😍

  • I love the videos you include your parents in. Thanks mama for the skin routine!

  • Beaut mother and daughter approaches to a daily regime!😍😍

  • It was awesome seeing Mama Hallease! I'll have to pick up some of her tips and tricks. I had stopped using toner… maybe I'll go back?

  • Shout outs to Momma Hallease. FYI your skin looks bomb in this video. I remember you mentioning the struggle in one of your earlier loc vids but your regimen def looks like it's working. I wash morning and night with regular degular African black soap. During the day I use a vitamin C serum and a coffee bean eye cream from 100% Pure and at night I use the eye cream again and alternate between that same serum and the dark spot remover from the same company. I'm working on getting rid of some hyperpigmentation/scarring on my cheeks. When I've been out all day running around in the elements or when I sweat a lot I do a deep clean mask with bentonite clay and a few drops of apple cider vinegar and water. I've also been drinking a ton of water and when I tell you my skin has improved? Girl. My dark spots are almost all gone. I'm really shocked but I will definitely be sticking with this regimen.

  • Your mom is amazing! 😍😍😍

  • Momma did a great job!

  • I loved seeing your mom! She did a great job. Thanks for the regimen, I'm in the process of switching mine up a little.

  • Hey Momma! πŸ‘‹πŸΎπŸ˜Š

  • Great video, per usual! Thanks mom for blessing us with your presence!

  • I went to a dermatologist about a very similar issue and she didn't give me any of this regimen but instead prescribed me skin bleaching cream! So this video was perfect timing and thank you and your beautiful momma for sharing your experiences.

  • As a perimenopausal melanated woman, I really appreciate seeing an older person's skincare regime. Thanks, Mama Hallease!

  • BE NICE TO MY MOM OR I WILL COME FOR YOU!

  • Thank you Momma Hallease!
It's beautiful that you did this collaboration as my own mother is currently visiting. I'll definitely be sharing this vid w her.
I know that she also enjoys her Clarisonic. I need to get me one so I can glow on gracefully.

  • This was lovely!

  • I Love Your Channel Yo. Feeling the Unapologetic Blackness About You Girl. πŸ’―

  • awesome video. per usual.

I am 24 and have very oily, very acne prone skin. my acne is homornal, mainly around my chin and jaw line. oily all over but my skin is very much dehydrated despite the oil. so I cut out a lot of harsh treatments and actually started treating my skin like sensitive, dry skin.
I added more moisture and less harsh cleansers. i use ivory soap for face and body, and whatever knock off version of the orange Neutrogena acne wash. I like the acv 4 in 1 cleanser+scrub for physical exfoliating (Freeman's brand). But the BIGGEST GAME CHANGERS have been vitamin c serums (by Deciem's The Ordinary brand), cheap Hydrating sheet masks (my skin had become so glowy and supple) and cutting way back on sugary snacks and alcohol, and adding a women's multivitamin.

  • Hi Momma Hallease! Thanks for participating. Yall both look amazing and I appreciate Momma sharing her secrets. I'll have to check out the CerVe product line.

  • Facial toner will do wonders for your skin. You will see there is so much dirt that you have miss after washing.

  • You and Mama de Hallese are as similar as me and my mother. Crazy Genetics! You speak with such kindness and reverence in your voice when addressing your mother, its inspiring.

  • Hey momπŸ‘‹πŸΎπŸ‘‹πŸΎ!! Your mom is beautiful! Reminds me of my mom! Loved the video as usual!

  • shea butter has worked wonders for my skin too.

  • Mama Hallease is so beautiful and sweet. Tell her she doesn't need eyebrows: she's flawless as is.

  • Your mom is awesome. I'm almost 44 my skin has always been normal I never had acne and I always had smooth skin and tight pores. Like my mom. However this mid 40's skin has me so confused. I used to just cleanse, tone and moisturize am and pm. Now I'm still trying to figure it all out for this new skin. I have chin hairs popping up, hyper-pigmentation, and dry flaky skin around my nose. Still learning…

  • Thank you mama H. You guys are an adorable family.

  • Dry, dry, dry skin. It's one of the reasons why I had to limit my use of black soap to once/twice a week and get a new cleanser. It's been working out for me so far.

  • your mother is absolutely beautiful and you're right you do have her face

  • This video is so sweet.

  • Your mother is lovely and thanks to her I now know how to pronounce CeraVe.

  • "If i had eyebrows I'd be okay"
    Me too mama…me too πŸ˜”πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  • Hi to your mom! She seems so sweet. I have extremely oily and adult-acne prone skin as well. Lately what's been working wonders is black soap and Thayer's rose water witch hazel.

  • Your mother is so sweet! Thank you for sharing! Please continue to make great content! (= I feel we are totally twinsies: mid-late 20 something video producing darker gals! I hope to continue to see more and see you grow~!

  • Great video, Hallease & mom! πŸ™‚

  • Your mom is such a beautiful queen.

  • Hey Mama Hallease! You both did great! I need to get on Bolden and stop playing. πŸ’–

  • Ahhhh! Your mom is so cute!!!!! ☺️☺️☺️

  • hey, mama!

and GIRL… i have adult acne too now T_T
I havent had acne since middle school… im dying inside…

  • LOVED seeing your mom! Great idea sharing both regimens!

  • Simply beautiful!

  • i'm in my late 20s and have had oily acne-prone skin since i was 12.
i have recently taken getting my acne under control seriously and have made some changes that have vastly improved my skin. i have cut dairy from my diet (R.I.P cheese) and drink at least 6 glasses of water a day (i used to drink only 2 or 3). i wash my face with African black soap twice daily, apply 1-2 drops of grapeseed oil after washing my face, and exfoliate weekly with a rotating brush.
it's been about 3 months now and my skin stays clear as long as i stay consistent πŸ™‚

  • You guys look like sisters!!

  • Awh such a cute video!

  • Beautiful video, you could make this into a series with women from all different walks of life.

  • Your mom is gorgeous! She should go without makeup every day (just pencil in/powder a little eyebrows if she wants). Really appreciate your videos.

  • Awww mom is beautiful! And so are you! My skin care routine is really wack right now. Lol. I mainly use black soap during the day and makeup wipes at night. Lol. At 40 I really need to get myself together!

  • Thank you mom πŸ’–

  • Your mom is me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ "if I had eyebrows i'd be okay"

  • Aaaw, this was so cute (and well done)! Shout out to mama Hallease for blessing us with her presence and dropping some knowledge. x

  • Your mom is gorgeous and has the most beautiful skin ever.

  • You and your mom are gorgeous. I'm use black soap as well but not the "real" stuff, I'm afraid lol

  • Your mother is gorgeous, inside and out. She looks amazing for approaching 60. We all know how the saying goes πŸ™‚

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO! So interesting the two different perspectives on skincare. the merging of your faces was brilliant. you will see how you will age and i've always wondered how you managed to look after your skin after your last bout with adult acne. skin and hair looking great Hallease

  • Thanks Mama Hallease! You are A1 for showcasing your routine. Very informative video Hallease, once again, you have produced excellent work with such clarity and freshness- like a refreshing glass of mint and lemon water. Thanks!

  • I loved this video!!!

  • Your mom and you are beautiful.

  • Her mother is beautiful. I have combination/oily acne prone skin.

  • Your mom is so pretty and so awesome to agree to being in the video. I loved that you wanted to show two perspectives on skincare.

  • LOVE YOU MAMA HALLEASE

  • You and your mom have beautifully kind faces.

  • Thank you Momma Hallease!! Simply beautiful ✨✨

  • Did you get your nose pierced?? I've been wearing faux nose rings for the past few months, but I'm dying (but way too nervous) to take the leap.

  • My Mom had been bragging on her Clarisonic for over 5 years. She came to visit me in Texas and gave me her new one. Needless to say, It's completely changed my skin and regimen! It's worth every penny and I wished I would've hopped on the train earlier. I use CeraVe too! Loved both you and your mom's regimen.

  • Your mom is amazing and she has wonderful skin !!

  • That was lovely. I have a very minimal skincare routine and I'm thinking now, maybe I should change it, as I'm approaching 45yrs. Currently I just 'wash' my face with water while in the shower – use a wash cloth for light ex-foliating and then I apply straight shea butter to my face. In the evenings, I just rinse my face with water. πŸ™‚

  • I'm oily and I've found that washing with a cleanser only at night is helpful. In the morning I cleanse with witch hazel or use a gentle sensitive skin scrub if I used a heavier moisturized the night before. My skin produces a lot less oil now. I also use a salicylic acid peel every two weeks. It's a game changer. hallease have you ever tried it? It reduces oil and evens skin tone. I love it

  • I love this and your mama is beautiful!

  • Great video! I cleared up my horrid pimple break outs a few years ago by switching to all natural products and have been able to maintain it but I still have a few blemishes. Happy to know that I'm not the only one with no eyebrows☺

  • good genes!!!

  • Wow, I didn't even know there were different skin types lol. This was very informative. I didn't get acne until I was 19 so I never thought of it. Now I'm eating better, drinking more water. Definitely helping.

  • This is beautiful

  • I love listening to your stories and videos. I felt like sharing what is working for us:
I would drop dairy and gluten to get a huge skin improvement. I would also think in selenium and iodine as trace minerals to improve the thyroid/uterine axis and improve eyebrows growth.

  • Shout out to Mom, and u 2! πŸ‘©πŸΏβ€πŸŒΎπŸŒ±

  • I just found your videos, love them. And your locs is giving me life, gorgeous.

  • you guys are beautiful!

  • shea butter breaks me out so bad, have you ever used argan oil or hyauloronic acid?
